1. I scanned and save (to tif) the entire page and i want to apply ocr at some areas in the page. i want to scan full images but OCR reads only certain areas in the image? (for example, scan only 4x2 inches at top/right of the image?

example: I scan the customer application paper, but i want ocr only in  the first two top inches.

i want to know that is it possible with imageman of Character Recognition?

can you recommend any documents or sample codes for OCR?

2. what is the best resolution/type of the image in order to ocr?

You will need to use the CropCommand or ScaleCommand to cut out the image portions you are interested  in and then run the OCR against those image portions. Look at the SimpleOCR sample for C# sample code for using the OCR engine against an image.
