    controlling timeout

How do I control the time or number of rings that FaxManJr waits for an answer before giving up. One of my clients has some numbers that the receiving fax machine doesn't pick up for 10 or more rings, so the faxes keep failing because FaxManJr gives up before the fax machine picks up.

    Hi,

You can set the S7 register in the modem init string to thew # of seconds to  wait for a carrier after dialing. This is specified in seconds so adding S7=120 would make the modem wait 120 seconds after dialing before it returned a No Connect.

That's great thanks. I'm not presently using an init string. Can I specify an init string with just S7=120? Or once I specify something do I need to include all the other settings? I'm using a Multi-Tech ZBA modem.

    You can use:

    AT&F&K3&C1&D2E0V1S7=60

You can change the 60 to a different # fo seconds to wait of you wish. I think the default is generally 30 seconds.

    Re: controlling timeout

I inserted this init string and now I'm getting a bunch of faxes that appear to go through successfully but then I get a "No Response to MPS Signal" or "No Response to EOP Signal" on quite a few faxes (but not all). So I'm resending faxes that have gone through successfully because I cannot confirm that they were, in fact, successful. What do these errors mean and how can I avoid them?
