Can you recommend a card that could be used to add COMx ports?

    Hi.

My quad-core PC doesn't have any serial ports built into it.  I've tried two PCI-X cards now and I still can't get FaxMan to send a fax--it will go through the motions, but always at one point or another end up with a "Modem command timeout".  Sometimes part of a fax is received, but most of the scan lines in it are missing.  FMPORTSCAN.EXE will find them just fine.

Can anyone recommend an add-in card that will allow me to connect at least two external modems that connect via 9-pin serial connectors?

Or: any progress on the quad-core issue?  It's hard to tell which is causing the problem.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

What cards have you tried ?

We're still working on trying to duplicate the issue with the notifications and the quad core processor.

    Hi Sean.

    I've tried the SY-PEX-4S and a StarTech ( http://www.pcconnection.com/IPA/Shop/Product/Detail?sku=9081901 ) card.  Both use the MosChip 9901 though--something I didn't know until I got the 2nd card installed.

My bios will let me disable the 2nd processor on each die, but the best I can get it down to is a dual-cpu config.  That didn't seem to help.

    What do you use?

    Hi,

We have a generic PC in the lab with a Quad core processor.

So have you tried any other serial cards that use different drivers ?

Also does this occur if you use only a single port ?
