    Problem with windows server 2003

    Hi,

I've installed FaxMan 3.62 on Windows Server 2003
but I can only see the Error message "AddPrinter Failed: Err = 1930"

Does FaxMan supports Windows 2003 at all?
How can I get new FaxMan install?

    Hi,

To install the FaxMan printer drivers on Win 2003 you either have to enable support for kernel mode drivers on Win 2003 or use our new FaxInstall which includes user modem drivers. V 3.80 of FaxMan will be released this week and has the new FaxInstall. You can also email us at support@data-tech.com to get the faxinstall utility now.

Re: Problem with windows server 2003

    Hi

I dont see 3.80 on the updates page ?

We received a newer faxinstall some time ago, but it caused issues with double callbacks being sent ?

1 - Does this new one correct that issue ??
2 - can it be used without problems with previous versions of FM (we dont want to update to a new engine right now, just get around the W23k printer issue more elegantly.)

    Thanks

    Hi,

The V 3.80 release will be up on Friday. Yes, you'll be able to just use the new faxinstall from the 3.80 whithout having to use the other server bits and yes it will work with previous versions components.

We havent had any issues with multiple notifications while testing the new user mode driver so whatever issue it was has hopefully been resolved.

On a related topic is there an easy was to remove a Windows 2003 Print Driver and port combination.  If you try to delete the port and it is still assigned to a print driver it will tell you. So if you delete the print driver then you have to have another print driver to use so you can delete the port.
Also do you have to have admin privledges to install this print diver/port?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Yes, you need to be an admin to install the printer driver as is the case for any other print driver.

Deleting a port & Driver is convoluted as you have noticed. We are updating our deleteprn utility so you can delete both from the commandline and not have to mess with the windows UI.

Re: Problem with windows server 2003

We are having an issue installing the software. At first the test fax would just stay in the print queue and nothing would happen, This is a VB 6 app using Faxman 3.71. We did the Windows 2003 user mode print driver install. When we went to the advanced tab of the print driver add selected "print directly to the printer" the conversion took place but we got a overflow 6 error.  This sofware is installed successfully on our test box which is a Win 2003 Server. Are there any settings for the Windows spooler or other sub system that we could check?  Any assistance would be appreciated.  Is there any logging that would help show what is going on? It seems the print driver is firing out of sequence or some thing.

    Thanks

We are trying to resolve a last minute bug we found in 3.80 so it should be out in the next day or so.

    Hi,

The Release Candidate for FaxMan SDK v 3.80 has been sent to all those on our beta list so you should have received it. Assuming we hear of any major issues it should be on the website next week. If you didnt get the email just drop us an email at support@data-tech.com and we'll get you the link to download it.
