Hi

We are being asked quite often whether or not our fax product supports various fax borads from BrookTrout and various others, none of which we are familiar with.

We were informed that BrookTrout requires software suport in the application to work ? 

Do you have a list of these boards, or which are, or are not supported please ??

Hi,

None of the Brooktrout cards are supported as they all have a proprietary API and do not support class 1/2/2.0. Having said that we have been considering adding Brooktrout support post Version 4.0 so I'll add you name to those interested in that support.

The same goes for Dialogic and other high-end fax cards such as those from Natural Microsystems.

Hi Gary,

We support any devices that support class 1/2/2.0 fax commands. As mentioned in my previous post, none of the brooktrout cards are supported, nor those from Dialogic or Natural Microsystems. Those are the major players in the high end fax card business. As mentioned we are considering support for Brooktrout once 4.0 ships.

Can the Brooktrout modems now send faxes to the 4.0 version of Faxman?

We have 5 clinic sites that use FaxMan, and a US Robotics modem 5686e.  These clinics have been getting distorted faxes from us but they are the only ones out of 700 clinics that get distorted faxes. The distorted faxes are also random.  We may send them 5 good faxes and 5 bad faxes. Our faxes are send via our Brooktrout TR1034 modems.  Is there any reason that we should not be able to send clear faxes to the FaxMan & Us Robotics modem?  Is there a fix for this issue?  Is this related to the IM31xfax.del file?

Hi Ron,

This partyicular  thread was about Faxman using Brooktrout cards to send and receive faxes ie supporting their proprietary API in addition to the class 1/2/2.0 faxmodems we already support.

I'm guessing you are you associated with Florida Hospital ? If so we have been speaking with Adam in IT there about the issues with those clinics and he found that in addition to the sites running the FaxMan code there are some other that dont run faxman that also have the same issues with receiving. He noted that they are all using USR modems to receive the files. He was looking into replacing one of the modems with a multitech modem to see if that didnt help. Otherwise it appears there is either an issue with the USR modems or the Brooktrout driver sending to a USR modem.
